El Salvador and Haiti Donation

Posted on 08:17 by Unknown

Cleats for Bare Feet (C4BF) has had an exciting weekend! On Saturday, Sarah Reddinger from Habitat for Humanity took some of our cleats with her on a Habitat journey to Morazan, El Salvador. The cleats will be given to a youth network that develops the athletic abilities of kids and keeps them out of trouble. We wish her all the best and hope she has a great trip.

prove as lucky for their new owner in El Salvador!

Another shipment of cleats will be leaving from St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Charlotte, North Carolina and traveling to Haiti on July 30th. Big thank you to Hands for Haiti President Mark Creasser. Hands for Haiti is a nonprofit organization that brings education to some of the poorest of the poor in rural Northern Haiti. The cleats are part of a much larger aid shipment provided by the organization. They will be given to children at the Missionaries of the Poor orphanage in Cap Haitien and to students at Hands for Haiti’s Solidarity School in Tremesse.

In total, more than 100 cleats made it out the door this week. We at C4BF cannot wait to see the pictures our partners send us. Huge thank you to the both of them.

Ethiopia

Posted on 16:32 by Unknown

Hey there Cleat for Bare Feet followers! Our first shipment and donation of sporting equipment for the summer has been sent, thanks to original Cleats for Bare Feet team lead Keith Meyers. Meyers is traveling to Africa for four months and will visit Ethiopia, Kenya and possibly some other countries. He left July 6th with a shipment of cleats and other equipment.

So far, he visited Ethiopia and went to the Abebech Gobena Orphanage School, where he met the owner herself. Not only does Abebech Gobena run the successful orphanage, but her personal story is truly inspiring. You can read it here: Africa's Mother Teresa: Abebech Gobena. While on site, Meyers and his team at HRB Movement received a full tour of the orphanage.

The C4BF team donated 35 pairs of cleats, 15 pairs of shinguards, 8 pairs of socks and two soccer balls to the orphanage. Gobena also gave the HRB Movement team a tour of an Ethiopian Orthodox Church that no westerner has ever seen before. She has been an inspiration to the C4BF team and we look forward to supporting her organization with future donations!

This photo depicts the impact the Cleats for Bare Feet team is trying to make. These cleats were primarily collected from the 2012 Mason Dixon Cup in Hagerstown, Maryland. A special thank you to Elite Tournaments and all those who donated! Keep following our blog to find out where the rest of the cleats end up! Thanks for supporting the C4BF movement and helping us share the love of the game worldwide.

400 Cleats and Counting

Posted on 07:10 by Unknown
The Cleats for Bare Feet (C4BF) team is back and busy!  Not only did we have to sort through all the donations that we received from the Mason Dixon Cup in Hagerstown, but we also sorted through all the cleats we had received from previous donations.  We have more than 400 cleats sorted and categorized in our inventory.  These cleats (and other donated sporting equipment) are now at their temporary residence: Mini U Storage.

Our first donation sites? El Salvador and Kenya!  We are shipping off a set of cleats to El Salvador with a Habitat for Humanity trip bound for Morazan. Keith Meyers, the founder of C4BF, left for Kenya on July 6 and took three boxes of cleats with him.

Stay tuned to see how many more cleats we get from donations and to see what other locations across the globe we’ll send them to.  Thanks so much for all of the support for C4BF!
